Auckland's Premier Entertainment Venues
Auckland Live is the trading name for the collection of performing arts venues managed by Regional Facilities Auckland. Encompassing some of the city's most beloved and historically significant buildings, Auckland Live brings together The Civic, Aotea Centre, Auckland Town Hall, and Bruce Mason Centre under one unified programme of arts, entertainment, and cultural experiences.
The Civic, originally opened in 1929, is one of only seven remaining atmospheric theatres in the world, renowned for its ornate Indian-inspired interior and a ceiling that replicates a star-filled night sky. The Auckland Town Hall, a heritage-listed Edwardian baroque building completed in 1911, is celebrated internationally for its exceptional concert chamber acoustics and continues to host the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Auckland Philharmonia, and visiting ensembles from around the globe.
Aotea Centre & Bruce Mason Centre
The Aotea Centre, located in the heart of Auckland's CBD on Queen Street, is the city's largest dedicated convention and performing arts complex. Its flexible theatre spaces accommodate everything from intimate recitals to large-scale international touring productions, Broadway musicals, and comedy festivals. The venue has played host to legendary acts and cultural events that define Auckland's identity as a creative capital.
Bruce Mason Centre on the North Shore serves as Takapuna's cultural heart. Named after the acclaimed New Zealand playwright, the centre provides a versatile performance space for theatre, dance, music, and community events, ensuring that world-class entertainment is accessible to audiences across the wider Auckland region.
Events & Programming
Throughout the year, Auckland Live presents a diverse calendar spanning international touring shows, local theatre premieres, comedy festivals, classical concerts, contemporary music, dance performances, and family entertainment. The venues also support community groups, schools, and emerging artists by providing rehearsal spaces and subsidised performance opportunities.
